Saturday's a RUGBY Day!!!

Somehow I've ended up being President of the local rugby club for the last two years. It's not that I'm a great fan of (unpaid) administrative work, rather I figure it's more like paying my dues so I get to play this awesome game.

Olympic Peninsula Sports Union Shield - 4 Teams: Seawolves(Men), Great Dames(Women), Bulldogs(Youth), and Renegades(Men-Military) The Olympic Peninsula Sports Union, is Kitsap Rugby. for 20 years we've run 4 teams; Men (Seawolves), Women (Great Dames), Youth (Bulldogs), and Military (Renegades) with some level of competence. We are a social club with aspirations of being competitive.

The club is a mix of civilian and military players. We are located near a number of major Navy bases, we draw about half of our players from the Submarine and Aircraft Carrier fleets. The funny thing is, the military guys are no more likely to be in shape than our civilian ruggers.

As to how I became President of the club, since I am less likely to be called away for 6 months at sea, nor am I nearly as likely to suddenly have my deployment extended or to be moved to a different command, I was a natural fit for a position that should have at least some consistency in its implementation.
