USA Rugby announcement:

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - May 30, 2001 - USA Rugby President Anne Barry announced Army Master Sergeant Allen (Dean) Hahn, Northeastern Territorial President Bruce Church and Army Major Fleming (Mike) Legg as the organization's three newest USA Rugby Board of Directors (BOD).

"We welcome these new board members from our territorial unions and from the
military community," USA Rugby President Anne Barry said. "With all seven territorial presidents now seated on the BOD of USA Rugby, the link between the territories and the national organization should be complete."

Hahn, a member of the U.S. Army since 1985, was elected by the Midwest Territorial Union to take the recently vacated Midwest director seat on the BOD. Hahn has played rugby for 10 years, most recently for the Army, Armed Forces and Combined Services teams. A USA Rugby Level I coach and referee, Hahn also serves as the president of the Iowa Local Area Rugby Union.

Hahn is a West Des Moines, Iowa resident and will graduate this fall with a bachelor's degree in psychology from Upper Iowa University.

Bruce Church, Northeastern Territorial President, was elected by the Northeastern Territorial Union to take the recently vacated seat of the Northeastern director on the BOD.

Church began his rugby career in 1988 when he played for the Ithaca, New York Wolves. He currently plays for the Johnson School Rugby Football Club.

Church holds a PhD. in applied physics from Cornell University and now works as a research assistant at Cornell.

Assuming the Director of Military seat on the BOD, Mike Legg has over 20 years of military and rugby experience and is currently the vice president for the Washington Rugby Football Club.

Previously Legg served as the team coach and captain for the Fort Bragg Rugby Football Club, Fort Bragg, N.C. and was also the founder of the Goodfellow Air Force Base Rugby Football Club, San Angelo, Texas, and the Stud Dawg Rugby Football Club, Tacoma, Wash.

A congressional liaison officer for special operations command in Washington, D.C., Legg will serve as the director of military for the remainder of 2001, as the former director stepped down. The seat will be up this fall for general election for a two-year term commencing in 2002.

A Falls Church, Va., resident, Legg got his rugby start in 1980 at James Madison University, Harrisonburg, Va.

Hahn, Church and Legg will all be seated at their first BOD meeting on June 30th at the BOD's Spring meeting.
